  1. Add Organic Matter: This can be in the form of compost, well-rotted manure, or leaf mold. Organic matter improves soil texture by increasing its ability to hold water and nutrients. It also adds nutrients to the soil and encourages beneficial microbial activity.

  2. Use Mulch: Mulching helps to retain moisture, suppress weeds, and over time, breaks down to add organic matter to the soil.

  3. Rotate Crops: Different crops have different nutrient requirements. By rotating crops, you can help to maintain a balance of nutrients in the soil.

  4. Avoid Compaction: Minimize walking on your soil beds to prevent compaction. Where necessary, use stepping stones or boards.
